|Letitia Nawoschik, of New City NY, a resident for 54 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Summit Park Care Center on May 19, 2008. She was 79.
Letitia was born Sept. 4, 1928 in Queens, NY, the daughter of the late Emily and Clarence Post. After graduating Jamaica High School she attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN and the Latin American Institute in New York City.
On May 17, 1952. Letitia married the love of her life, John at St. Joseph's Church Spring Valley, NY. Letitia was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was a stay at home Mom and was devoted to her children. After the children completed high school, Letitia returned to the work force as an Accounting Clerk at Letchworth Village in Haverstraw, NY. She retired in 1996. Letitia is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, John, her loving children, daughter,
Mary Solla and her husband Charles, sons, Peter and wife Betty, Robert and wife Diane, Donald and wife Lynn, grandchildren, Timothy and Candace Solla, Bryan, Kristin, Douglas, Alli, Nick and Anna Nawoschik, sisters-in-law, Margaret Post, Audrey Nawoschik and Annette Lyone, brother-in-law, Henry Nawoschik and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Letitia is predeceased by her brother, Clarence. Letitia loved music and played the piano. She was a devoted 56-year member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Central Nyack, NY and was a member of the Choir and served as Choir Director for many years. She served on the church Council and was an Officer in the Woman’s Guild. She assisted the Lutheran Braille Workers as a Braille Transcriber and printing Braille Books. Letitia was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the New City Fire Engine Co. Letitia loved to travel and with John she visited Europe, Canada, Iceland, Mexico and many places in the United States.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm at the “Family Owned” Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. Letitia’s service of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am in St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Central Nyack, NY.
Internment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
